"Self-care becomes an experience that requires that you set time aside for yourself, a mindful pause, that not only grounds you in the present moment but also paves the way to access your internal world."

- these are the words of Mariana the founder of the online space “Self-ceremony”.

It's Valentine's day. Yep, we're back at it again and while I love celebrations, to me there is no better way to celebrate love than starting with self-love. I did an episode on self-love last year, go check it out if you missed it.

So to follow up, I now want to focus on self-care. We should love and care for ourselves every day but I see Valentine’s day as a reminder of that in case we’ve been caught up in our everyday life, losing our love and care for ourselves in the process.

But the thing is ... that, even if we all know that self-care is beneficial, it is still quite broad.

A self-care practice can work for your bestie but feels very uncomfortable for you, and vice-versa Or with all of the current wellness hype and its billion trends, you just don't know where to start. That's why getting a little bit of help gaining clarity in the framework of how your energy works can not only be a great boost to your self-care but can also be utterly transformative.

Who doesn't want that?

Today, we'll look at self-care through the Human Design lens.
Human Design is a natal chart system that gives you the blueprint of how your energy is designed to thrive. It’s not a marginal religion, a pick-and-choose made-up profile, nor a personality test, like the Myers-Briggs or the Enneagram systems which are both awesome nonetheless. Instead, your chart is calculated based on your birth date, time, and place. You're born with your profile. It's your individual essence. This self-discovery tool meets modern science with a blend of wisdom traditions and spiritual modalities. Even if it sounds a little out there, I’m always one to want to discover and explore self-discovery tools to improve every day as a human being in this challenging world. I’m a fierce believer in the power of self-awareness, the foundation of self-love, self-care, self-acceptance, and ultimately compassion for self and others.

What's super interesting and captivating about Human Design is that it underlines the way your intuition communicates with you and gets you re-align with your unique energy flow so you can be in sync with your true nature.

Putting it simply, it just opens you up to a greater acceptance of yourself and helps you to own your magic. For some, this might be a far-fetched concept and quite 'woo-woo' and that’s ok but why not dive deeper? As I always say, knowledge is power - when you gain self-knowledge: not only knowing who you are but understanding the intricacies of your functioning too, it can really transform the way you connect with your inner wisdom, leaving the resistance aside, and making your approach to life effortless.

To carry on this conversation, I invited Allison Unruh, a Human Design expert among all the other things she offers as an esoteric arts consultant at Color-Shift, the space she created for those who are at a crossroads in their journey. Helping them gain more self-awareness, feel empowered, and leaving them with a sense of self-advocacy to start the next chapter of their lives.

Before meeting Allison, I heard about Human Design but it kind of felt eerie and didn't really connect with this modality. Until she read my chart! Afterward, I started to be more aware of my own functioning and it definitely mirrored what she told me when explaining my profile. Since she's the one who truly introduced me to Human Design I couldn't think of a better person for this chat about self-care according to each Human Design profile. She's also one of my branding agency clients and I just love what her brand brings to this world. So I had to share!

Listen up to this gem!
